SEARCHING FOR JESUS.

The study of Jesus’ personal Gospel cannot be like a typical theological study with references to authoritative sources. Jesus’ teaching contains spiritual concepts beyond any science. On the other hand, one cannot approach Jesus’ teaching by frivolously interpreting His words “as the Spirit leads.” Jesus created an organization and quite clearly laid out the foundations of His teaching. It is possible to understand what Jesus taught using slightly different tools, new to most. Here are the basic rules for successfully searching and understanding Jesus’ teaching in the Gospels:

First, the Word of God must be thought of as an IDEA, not just as a human “word.” A “word” is a sound in our language or a written symbol of letters, a material equivalent of the corresponding idea that this sound expresses. Human words can never fully express the idea that lies behind them, much less complex ideas. The true supermaterial Word of God cannot be fully and adequately expressed by human words. In addition, there are many ideas and concepts for which there are no corresponding verbal designations yet. Therefore, the search for the Word of God, the study of the authentic Gospel of Jesus, is a constant, unceasing search for the ideas and concepts that stand behind the words of Christ. Jesus repeatedly pointed out the idea of diligent search. The personality of Jesus is also a series of known and unknown ideas and concepts that must be discovered over time.

Secondly, it is necessary to start from scratch, to become like children: to forget, at least for a while, about the teachings of the confession, authoritative theologians, the letters of the Apostles, and so on. There is much that is useful there, but the good is often the enemy of the best. It is necessary to daily and diligently focus your mental gaze on Jesus and His personal doctrine. It is necessary to understand that not entirely correct concepts inherited by us from predecessors can overshadow Jesus, hinder spiritual growth, or even lead in the wrong direction. This is why Jesus repeatedly asked his disciples to become “children,” that is, to be more trusting and open to the views that Jesus tried to convey to them. Pre-sets in the mind block the search for truth and spiritual growth.

Third. There is a purely spiritual rule. The search for the true teaching of Jesus is something that Jesus is PERSONALLY interested in. He will help in this search: one must firmly believe in this. The researcher is not left alone, the disciple of Jesus receives guidance from those levels of reality that are not yet accessible to human consciousness. “You will be given something to say” – such a promise means the effect of “enlightenment” of consciousness, when doors are opened to a person for understanding phenomena that were previously hidden. The spiritual bread that Jesus taught about is food for the mind and heart given from above. Of course, a person receives such spiritual food from above on a regular basis.

THE NARROW DOOR OR THE INFLATED EGO?

Someone asked Jesus, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?” Jesus confirmed that relatively few are saved, invoking an old Jewish maxim that the path to salvation is narrow and that people generally choose the broad road where they feel comfortable. Yes, Jesus used some wise insights coming out of Judaism of…

YOU ARE FREE TO CHOOSE

Many Christians hold the following naive view of how the world works. They assume that God literally rules this world, controlling, permitting, or forbidding events to happen. Thus God is blamed, for example, for the explosion of any bomb or for the flight of a bullet: He supposedly allowed it, therefore it was His sovereign…

WHEN POLICING ISN’T NEEDED

The statement “Jesus has redeemed all your sins, ‘your record is clean’” does have something in common with Jesus’ teaching. Jesus taught that forgiveness of sins is the consequence of repentance. That principle is universal. It works for any person, whether they consider themselves a believer or not. When someone repents sincerely, their past really…
